The Story of Wedding Chakra
Meet Vetri & Sasi who are helping NRIs plan their intimate dream weddings. The duo started “Wedding Chakra” in 2010 after there was a niche decor in the Indian market when it came to NRI weddings. NRIs have higher expectations when it comes to their wedding planning and to satisfy that by our Indian decorators and event planners was not up until recently. Since starting up in 2012, they have planned over 550 weddings.
Marriages may be made in heaven but the weddings on earth have always been a tedious and long task. And being an Indian wedding can be even tougher to handle. Being from the esteemed southern cities shifted together to Chennai and started their wedding planning startup along with their primary venture, Flower shop, Nilla Blooms. The road to establishing Wedding Chakra as an amazing wedding decor company was a tough journey.
The most challenging factor was the industry as the Indian wedding industry is estimated to be the second-largest wedding market. Since it is a seasonal industry, we take up only up to 10 weddings a year it takes close to 2-5 months for each wedding because each wedding is personally attended from sketch all the way till delivery.
What it takes to plan a wedding
Wedding Chakra now has close to 25 core staff handling designers, planners, florists, and artists. And labors helping raise the setups and decors to accomplish the final set. Taking up each wedding very personally, leaving behind no detail unattended.
Challenges along the way
There are many times when clients walk in expecting to meet the “Boss”, Little do they know we have a couple as “bosses” running the entire show. Even though the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown have affected the wedding industry devastatingly, Vetri & Sasi had finished their last wedding in February and were in talks with couples who wanted to get married by the end of the year which has now been put on hold.
Wedding chakra and its team are still helping couples plan weddings for 2021 and 2022. Once the lockdown is eased, we believe apart from certain protocols such as social distancing and sanitising process, planned weddings can still offer couples a unique wedding experience. This period of self-isolation has also given her the opportunity to grow and build stronger planning techniques and safety measures for an amazing wedding.
